Ingredients
  

  • 1 can Italian tuna in olive oil
  • 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp anchovy paste optional
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • Ciabatta rolls or hoagie buns
  • Provolone slices optional

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil and caramelize onions over low heat for 25–30 minutes.
  • Add garlic, tomato paste, and anchovy paste; cook until fragrant.
  • Stir in oregano, red pepper flakes, and beef broth. Simmer 5 minutes.
  • Add tuna with oil and gently stir to combine.
  • Load onto rolls with provolone, toast or press until melty.
  • Serve hot with napkins and a big appetite.
