Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Whisk

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper or to taste

Instructions

  • Warm a skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and cook each side until golden brown, about 5 to 6 minutes per side. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  • Add butter to the same pan. Once melted, whisk in flour until it forms a smooth paste. Let it cook for 1 minute while stirring constantly.
  • Slowly pour in the chicken broth and milk while whisking to prevent lumps. Stir until thick and creamy.
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Return the chicken to the pan and simmer for 5 minutes until the gravy coats the chicken beautifully.

Notes

To avoid lumps in the gravy, whisk continuously while slowly adding liquid. Serve over mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
