Equipment

  • Baking Sheet

  • Oven

Ingredients

Meatballs Mixture

  • 500 g ground beef or lamb or a mix of both
  • 1/3 cup crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg lightly beaten
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1/2 onion grated or finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp lemon zest freshly grated
  • 1 tbsp olive oil plus more for drizzling
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine ground meat, crumbled feta, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, parsley, oregano, lemon zest, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  • Shape the meatballs: Roll the mixture into small, bite-sized balls (around 1 inch in diameter) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake: Cook for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Serve: Drizzle lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with extra herbs. Serve warm on skewers or as canapés with tzatziki or yogurt dip.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix the meat mixture to keep the meatballs tender.
  • Prepare in advance and reheat before serving.
  • For a classic touch, pair with tzatziki, hummus, or cucumber salad.
